At the present time there is no national Canadian certification for dog trainers. As you conduct your search for a canine trainer to assist you, you should be aware that anyone claiming to be a canine behaviorist will have had highly specialized training. As provincial director of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers, I am not aware of any certified canine behaviorists in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Beware of anyone making that claim. Be sure to ask about credentials and ask for references. Ask to observe a class before enrolling your pet. Do not let anyone do anything to your dog that makes you uncomfortable.
